Phanish Puranam is the Roland Berger Chaired Professor of Strategy and Organization Design at INSEAD. His research in organisation science focuses on how organisations work, and how we can make them work better.

Profile

Phanish Puranam’s research in the field of organisational science focuses on how organisations work, and how we can make them work better. He is known for using computational methods to study organisations as complex adaptive systems, and is a globally recognised expert on organisation design, having advised and taught senior leaders from corporations, governments and international organisations such as the UN.

Phanish holds the Roland Berger Chair Professorship in Strategy & Organization Design at INSEAD. He leads the 'Organizations and Algorithms' research programme (supported by the Desmarais Fund at INSEAD) which has trained several doctoral students who are themselves now faculty at leading business schools, and which involves collaborators from around the world.

His latest book, Re-Humanize: How to Build Human-Centric Organizations in the Age of Algorithms (Penguin Random House, 2024), is written for a general audience and explores what organisations of the future might look like, in the light of rapid changes in technology and culture.
